What we've been up to...
I'm way behind on keeping this blog up-to-date. I've been a busy lady, in a good way.
Levi is still in swimming lessons twice a week, while I'm still in my workout/maintenance program twice a week. Levi and I have been jogging on the beach quite a bit lately also. He doesn't view it as jogging, we are playing tag, but it's the best way to get him to run!
On Sunday afternoons for the last couple of months while Seth is doing worship practice I have been going to my friend Chris' house with other girlfriends from church and we have been watching a different Jane Austen flick every time. Let me tell you, Chris lays out the most marvelous spread of yummy tea party treats! We have tea sandwiches, wraps, chocolate, cheesecake, cookies, fruit, etc. not to mention tea. We kinda end up talking through most of the movies, but I love it and totally cherish the girlie time. Chris' awesome son Matt plays with Levi (and all the other little kids) outside. It is a really nice break. We haven't watched my favourite movie of all time yet, Sense and Sensibility (the one with Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet) but it is so fun to watch new ones I have never seen before. Time before last was Jane Austen Regrets and I just loved it!
We also were busy preparing for Easter weekend. Our church had a giant Easter Egg hunt (as you can see from the post below) at a park for the community. We stuffed over 5,000 eggs! The event turned out awesome. It was so packed! There was face painting, candy, prizes, refreshments, balloons, and coloring/crafts. There was even Starbucks, and our friend Imelda walking around in a bunny costume posing for pictures. I got to be one of the photographers and help stuff eggs. Have I ever mentioned that I love assembly lines? Because I do.
Seth and I were also in a short eight minute skit that we performed Easter morning at our church. It was a dramatization to music of how Jesus has redeemed us. That afternoon we had lunch at my house as we do every year. Our friend Jack came and joined us. I adore celebrating Easter at my house every year. It has become one of my very favourite days. We are the only ones with a big backyard, and I get to be the one who hides the eggs. This year it was so rainy that we took a rain check (ha) and we are gonna do the hunt next week.
That evening Levi and I left for vacation -- sadly leaving poor Seth behind. He wasn't able to get the time off of work that he requested. My sister's roomate's family has a cabin right on the water in Clearlake. They let us stay there for free, which is super nice of them. It ended up being my dad, mom, sister, my sister's boyfriend, Levi and I. We basically just hung around, went on walks, the guys fished, and everyone napped everyday except my mom, me and Levi. It was kinda a forced relaxation type of vacation.
I realized on this trip I am sooooo "citified" and get bored way too easy. "What do people do out here for fun?" I kept asking myself that. I still don't know. Beats me.
The lake was so gorgeous, and the highlight was taking out the canoe and rowing around. We paddled to an island with a mysterious, really neat house on it. We could tell that people rarely used it so we got to walk around and explore. It had a hot tub, a hammock and it was decorated all asian style. I wanted to buy it right then and there. We could tell it had been someone's sanctuary at one time, even though no one had been there in a while. Our imaginations ran wild of what we would do to fix the place up. With just a little work it would be one of the most amazing houses ever.
Our last night at Clearlake we made an hour long trek into a town with the nearest theatre. That is so different than what I am used to, all I have to do is step out my door at home and I am in middle of the city, surrounded by crazy, homeless people and all. To drive that long to find a small movie theatre was a trip. Over all we had a good time. Nice to be gone, and nice to come back home, haha.
Today Levi woke with a bad cold. He sounds congested and has a horrible cough. If you think of it, please pray that I don't catch it. I am really worried about that. I am hiding away in the bedroom right now, but that can't last for long...
Anyway, that's a little bit of what we have been up to.

Our Trip - Day Three
Day 3
Our third and last day in Yosemite it was snowing the hardest. It was just dumping. We had another day of playing hard. It was cold and wet, but all of the fresh snow was nice and powdery for great snowball fights.
Crane Flats is where we spent the day. We, like all of the other days, had the whole place to ourselves.
We made our own sled run, and went down in saucers.
We dug a tunnel and we all three crawled through it, (but not at the same time)
Gas station.

Our Trip - Day Two
Day 2
On the second day of our trip to Yosemite we were looking for something a little bit more structured to do. We chose to check out Badger Pass Ski Area in hopes to go inner tubing. By this time a storm had rolled in. It was raining down below in the valley and snowing up on the tops of the mountains.
Seth had to put on chains so we could make it up there. When we got to Badger Pass, the inner tubing didn't look that interesting, and the lady who worked there didn't really recommend it for that day. So we ended up deciding to go cross country skiing!

It was so fun! Seth, Levi and I had never done it before. It was pretty easy (with my new lungs)
Only a few months ago I was having trouble walking, let alone being able to ski.
It was so refreshing.
To breathe in the mountain air
To climb the hills briskly
To coast down and enjoy the freedom
Lovely.
Levi did great -- he was a natural. He fell a ton of times, but he was also able to stay up for some pretty long stretches. He had a good time, and asked if we could come back to do it again the next day.
(He said that everyday about everything we did. Ha.)
An extraordinary way to explore gorgeous mountains.

Our Trip - Day One
Day 1
Our first full day in Yosemite we only had one goal in mind: to play in the snow! And that's exactly what we did! We were nervous at first that we wouldn't be able to find any, because the weather was so clear, and we weren't positive there was any left over from the last storm. There is nothing worse than telling a five year old that you are going to play in the snow, only to not be able to.
The mountains were covered in snow! As we climbed the mountain and saw the first couple patches of snow were so thrilled. We drove up to Merced Grove and played there for the first half of the day.
Snowball fight!
We made a snowman.
Levi was slightly sad to leave the snowman behind when we had to go.
Snowman tragedy.
The second part of the day we hiked to see the lower Yosemite falls.

Yosemite
All day Monday and Tuesday we packed up and cleaned out our hometel after we finally got the go ahead to return home. We rolled into Santa Cruz Tuesday night. But it didn't stick. That's right..... we left again. Wednesday morning we packed up and headed to Yosemite National Park.
It's fun to be a little crazy sometimes.
It was obviously a very spur-of-the-moment trip... Don't ask me why our vacations are always unplanned... I don't really know why.... they just work out like that. We didn't know for sure we were heading out until right before we left.
The reasoning behind leaving right away was to take advantage of the few days Seth still has off before heading back to work at his normal job. And before I switch over to my twice a week pulmonary rehab here in town. Plus the fact that we needed some good quality family time after being apart for so long. I had wanted to take Levi to play in the snow for a very long while, and hadn't gotten the chance to.
It turned out to be such a delightful, lovely time. It was very, very fun and relaxing. When we got there we realized we had no access to the internet (even though we had our laptop) and not only that, we had absolutely no cell phone reception either! Even the pay phones were out of order... ha. It was kinda neat how God worked it out for us like that, totally disconnected from the outside world -- just spending time enjoying each other's company.
If you have tried to contact us in the last couple of days, sorry, we were MIA...
Anyways, I'll write a little more about our trip later... for now bed is calling my name...
We played hard.

San Francisco
San Francisco....
That is precisely where we spent all day. What a glorious day! First off Seth and I attended church at Reality San Francisco. If you live in, or near the city you should really go and check it out! What made it extra sweet was to see my dear, old friend Tim and the amazing Joenses.
Since we were already in the city, we decided to mosey around and see what we could see. We parked somewhere above Ghirarelli Square and ended up walking all the way to Pier 1 Port of San Francisco.
When we arrived at the other side of the bay, we sat in a coffee shop and attempted to teach ourselves how to play cribbage. Attempted being the key word. Haha.
Muggins!

I don't know how far of a walk that is, but it was a long way! Love.
We boarded a Ferry headed for Sausalito! Riding on the roof was so chilly and breathtaking.

Amazing Summer
I haven't been very good about keeping my blog updated. The beginning of this past summer was amazing and fun. Here are a few photos of this summer's activities I didn't write about.....
