Swimming Lessons!

March 16, 2010

Sleep escapes me...

Sleep escapes me.  Coffee or espresso keeps me awake the day after.
I can see that it is a nice day out right now-- very nice in fact.
I'm kind of in a haze though.... a sleep deprivation haze.
I pulled another all-nighter.  Not by choice.

I found out last night that my friend who I posted about HERE (a few posts down) passed away.  I pray that she knew Jesus and that she is resting in peace.  I was in tears over the loss of her.  The second close CF friend I have lost in a matter of months.  Oh, how I wish she had been able to get a transplant!
I am reminded at just how lucky I am.

These thoughts running around through my head didn't help my crazy brain last night.
Also, don't you hate it when you can't sleep, and you know you have to be somewhere early the next morning, so then you get all anxious that you can't sleep, which makes you even less able to sleep?
Or is that just me?

Well Levi had swimming lessons begin this morning, and by the grace of God we made it there, no sleep and all.  The water was nice and peaceful and warm.  I wanted to hop in and join the kids.  Last summer Levi overcame the scariness of dunking his head all the way under the water.  Today he was a little more hesitant but I'm thinking it was because he hasn't swam in so long.  Hopefully he'll catch back up to where he left off last summer in no time.  I know he will.

Well, *yawn*  until next time...

Guppy 1

Yesterday Levi had his very first day of swimming lessons!  He did good! He has always liked the water, but he never wants to get his head or face wet.  Yesterday was the first day and he was up to his neck, blowing bubbles, and water was splashing on his face.  He goes back every weekday for the next two weeks, and we are hoping he will dunk his head, or at least his face by the end.  To our surprise also one of his teachers is a girl Seth and I know, named Kenzie.  Anyways, Levi really seemed to love the class, and he had a lot of fun.

Typical summer day

Today was a typical summer day. When Seth got home from work, we hit the beach. We suited up in our wetsuits, because that is really the only way that you can enjoy swimming in the frigid waters of Santa Cruz. We went swimming in the waves, all three of us.

After that we hit up Betty's Burgers. We have made a habit of it... every time we go swimming we somehow end up at that place afterwards! I'm not really a burger fan at all, but let me tell you........!

These burgers are absolutely scrumptious! I get the bleu cheese bitty burger, and it is now one of my all time favourites.

Now Seth is making up a sweet song on garage band, and Levi has crashed for the night.

Bright

Today Levi and I spent this gorgeous day at the beach. We met my friend from church, Mendy, and her two kids at Seabright.

When we woke up this morning at 8 o'clock it was gloomy, so we both put on pants. Plus, Levi is usually pretty timid about waves, so he steers clear of the water.

That all changed.

Maybe it was the peer pressure and excitement of hanging out with a seven year old, or maybe it was the super neat cave that we discovered that opened up on the other end with a pool of water to wade in. Levi ended up going in up to his chest. He went through three of Elisha's diapers. As a side note, Elisha just turned two last month and Levi is almost four and they wear the same size. My son has no butt! Haha.

Anyway, it was such a lovely day. We ate tuna fish (I actually remembered to pack a lunch), took a walk, explored the cave (a favorite pastime of mine), talked, the kids played and got soaked.

Throughout the five hours we were down there though I kept thinking of Rebecca, and feeling bad for her being in the hospital. Spending weeks on end in the hospital sure does make you appreciate days like today.

Summer...

I really like the summer.

I'm kinda bummed that's almost over...(sigh). Last week Seth and I went to the beach and went swimming, yes swimming in the ice cold ocean. It actually wasn't bad. When my toes first touched the water I was like,"yikes" it's freezing! But once we were in, it was warm. It was actually really nice, and really fun. For a split second I felt like I was in Hawaii or something. God's creation is so cool.
